This page explains how to ask Hoost to delete the data it holds about you, whether or not you have a Hoost account. Our Privacy Policy describes what we collect and how long we keep it.
Customers with a Hoost account
- Open the Hoost app on your iPhone and sign in.
- Open your Profile and choose Delete account. Confirm.
- Hoost schedules the deletion 30 days later and emails the address on your account to confirm the date. To cancel before then, open your Profile in the app and choose Manage account deletion.
When the 30 days are over, Hoost anonymizes your account. Your profile details are removed or replaced and the text of your messages and reviews is blanked.
Hoost keeps some records because the law requires it, such as transaction records, for the period the law requires (typically up to seven years for U.S. tax and financial records). Backup copies can persist for up to 30 more days after deletion from primary systems. See Section 11 of the Privacy Policy. If you cannot use the app, email privacy@hoost.it from the address on your account.
Venue and vendor partners
- Deleting your account. If you own a partner business, transfer it to someone else or deactivate it first. Until you do, the deletion request is refused. Then follow the steps for customers above.
- Disconnecting Gmail. Disconnect it in the partner dashboard. Hoost revokes Google access on a best-effort basis, deletes the stored tokens and removes the indexed inbox messages for that address (Section 21 of the Privacy Policy).
- Forwarded email and calendar links. Turning off a forwarding address does not remove messages already in your inbox. To have forwarded email or imported calendar events deleted, email privacy@hoost.it and tell us what to remove.
People without an account
You do not need a Hoost account to ask us to delete your data. Email privacy@hoost.it. Tell us the name, email address or username Hoost may hold, and where you dealt with us. We may ask you to confirm that you control the address before we act. We respond within the time the law requires: no later than 30 days under most regimes, or 45 days under California law (Section 13 of the Privacy Policy).
Connected Instagram accounts
If you connected an Instagram account to Hoost, you can remove Hoost from Instagram:
- Open your Instagram settings and find the list of connected apps (named Apps and websites or Business integrations, depending on your account).
- Select Hoost and choose Remove.
Instagram then tells Hoost, and Hoost deletes the Instagram connection it stored for that account. If you also asked Instagram to delete your data, Hoost returns a confirmation code and a link to a page that explains it. If you would rather not use Instagram settings, email privacy@hoost.it.
